Small Group Leader Formation
The Small Group Leader Formation Series is based on the small groups method called the International Parish Evangelizing Cells System. Participating in this training will not only by instructional, but formative. It will allow you to be among the first to learn about, form and participate in a small group at Saint Bonaventure.
Each Session will last less than 2 hours, and will include times of prayer, teaching, and small group sharing. Participants are expected to attend most, if not all, sessions in person. Participation in the series does not commit you to lead a small group. Upon the formation's conclusion, there will be a mutual discernment , that will include Father James, on whether each participant will lead a small group starting in Winter 2024. We hope to follow the example of the disciples to cast our nets far and wide in our parish in hopes of having 72 people join us in the “upper room” at our Ambrose Hall starting on Thursday, September 28. Please prayerfully discern to join us as we aim to grow our Catholic community right here in Bloomington! When: Thursdays, 9:30 a.m. or 6:30 p.m. Where: Ambrose Hall in the Activities Building |
Archbishop's Dream for Our Parish
Sowing the Seed Through Small Groups
Sowing the Seed Through Small Groups
Archbishop Bernard Hebda has a dream for our parish and every parish in this Archdiocese: a dream in which all Catholics are in a small group. He dreams such things because being in small groups can help our faith come more fully to life and help us draw closer to Jesus. In the earliest days of the Church, small groups spread the good news of Jesus – and they can do it again today.
Our Synod Evangelization Team (SET) has been preparing to help make the Archbishop's dream of Catholics in small groups a reality: creating a small group ministry here at Saint Bonaventure. If you feel inspired by this or any other aspect of the Archdiocesan Synod process, consider the following action steps:
If you are interested in small group leader formation or would like to learn more about Synod implementation efforts at Saint Bonaventure, contact the parish office at 952-854-4733, or reach out to a SET member directly: Alfred Iyobhebhe, Ben Krippner, Breta MacPhie, Deanna Lelemsis, Dick Hertel, Jodi Ketter, Peggy Fouts, Tammy Arndorfer, Wendell Kawakami, and Will Herrmann.

- Prayerfully discern participating in Small Group Leader Formation, a FREE seven-week series held in the fall right here at our parish, facilitated virtually by Bishop Joseph Williams. This formation is intended for those who are open to the possibility of playing a leadership role in a small group.
- Small groups will be formed in early 2024. Watch for details and an invitation to come!
