Charitable Giving
Cans for the Poor
We collect aluminum cans for missions. Drop off your rinsed aluminum cans in the recycling area located between the Parish Office and Church. Proceeds benefit: Friends of the Poor, a Vietnamese Catholic charity.
A few reminders:
• We can ONLY accept cans. No aluminum pans or trays, plastic bottles, or steel cans.
• Empty small bags into the big tubs, and throw plastic bags in the trash container nearby.
• If you have big bags of cans, you can just put them into the tubs.

Giving Tree
Christmas Giving Tree is an opportunity for those in our community to purchase gifts for those in need, along with donations to local charitable organizations. In December 2022, our Giving Tree provided 70 individuals with gifts to make their Christmas more joyful. Along with these gifts, your generosity provided the following:

Shoe Box Mission Project
Our students and families share the love of Christ Jesus through the Appalachia Kentucky Papal Footprints Mission Project. Our community gives items such as toys, books, and games packed into shoe boxes and given as Christmas gifts for families living in poverty in Appalachia, Kentucky. Through the generosity of many, we sent 89 beautifully wrapped shoe boxes and other miscellaneous gifts and, together with donations from St. Paul and Minneapolis Archdiocese, filled a truck to Appalachia, Kentucky, in early November 2022.

Giving Tree
Christmas Giving Tree is an opportunity for those in our community to purchase gifts for those in need, along with donations to local charitable organizations. In December 2022, our Giving Tree provided 70 individuals with gifts to make their Christmas more joyful. Along with these gifts, your generosity provided the following:
- Sarah’s Oasis, a ministry of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet, is a home dedicated to the safety and dignity of a diverse community of women who have survived violence, abuse, torture, discrimination, and trauma.
- 183 pairs of socks, 131 kitchen towels, 84 bath hand towels, 36 pillowcases, 17 laundry detergents, and 4 shower gels.
- Friends of Dorothy Day is a charitable volunteer organization dedicated to supporting residents of Catholic Charities Higher Ground homeless shelter. Volunteers serve food and friendship on a nightly basis to men and women who are rebuilding their lives.
- 390 bars of soap, 309 pairs of socks, 181 washcloths, 41 pkgs of beef jerky, 29 boxes of granola bars (over 700 bars!), 6 deodorants, 2 stocking hats, and 1 pkg of underwear.
- Lincoln Place, a 24- unit apartment development in Eagan for young homeless adults ages 18-24.
- 11 toasters and 7 comforters.

Loaves and Fishes
Six times a year, a team from Saint Bonaventure provides, cooks and serves a free, nutritious meal to anyone in need at Creekside Community Center. About 20 volunteers are needed each time we serve. Loaves and Fishes is guided by the vision that all people, regardless of socioeconomic, cultural or ethnic background, deserve to meet their basic needs for food, dignity and respect.
When: 1st Friday of January, March, May, July, September, and November
Cooking - 2:30 p.m. and Serving - 5:30 p.m.
Where: Creekside Community Center, Bloomington, MN 55431

Respect Life
Members promote the Catholic Church’s teaching on the sanctity of human life from conception to natural death. Our Respect Life Ministry at Saint Bonaventure is very active with many projects, drives and gatherings in prayer.
When: 1st Sunday of the month, after 10 a.m. Mass

Cherub Memorial Garden
The Cherub Memorial Garden, located adjacent to the north parking lot of the church, is a welcoming place for ALL to come to pray, rest and enjoy the beauty of the flowering plants and shrubs throughout the changing seasons!
In support of Saint Bonaventure families who have lost a child in early pregnancy, stillbirth, SIDS, or infancy, we invite members of our community who have lost a baby in early pregnancy, stillbirth, newborn death or SIDS to put a solar light and to plant a surrounding 12”-15” ring of annual flowers in honor of their loved one. Volunteers maintain the garden throughout the growing season (May-October).
When: Register for a spot in May and the Garden is blessed Memorial Day Weekend
Where: Adjacent to the north parking lot, the Cherub Memorial Garden is the center section of the garden
