Mission Projects

We have charitable projects throughout the year with opportunities to share the love of Christ in very tangible ways.

Picture
Baby Bottle Boomerang
We give out baby bottles for folks to take home and fill with loose change, cash, and checks (made out to Elevate Life) for our "Baby Bottle Boomerang" fundraiser each year. We give money collected to support the life-saving, life-changing work of Elevate Life, a Catholic organization based in Bloomington.

In 2024, we raised $11,895, which was the second-highest total in our 22-year history of this fundraising effort. Thanks to your generosity, we have raised more than $167,000 over the last 22 years for the life-saving work of crisis pregnancy resource centers. Thank you for supporting the unborn and their moms and dads.

Cans for the Poor
We collect aluminum cans for missions. Drop off your rinsed aluminum cans in the recycling area located between the Parish Office and Church. Proceeds benefit Friends of the Poor, a Vietnamese Catholic charity.

A few reminders:
  • We can ONLY accept cans. No aluminum pans or trays, plastic bottles, or steel cans.
  • Empty small bags into the big tubs and throw plastic bags in the trash container nearby.
  • If you have big bags of cans, you can just put them into the tubs.

Diaper Drive
Each year, between Mother's Day and Father's Day, our Respect Life Ministry hosts a diaper drive for the Society of St. Vincent de Paul food shelf. These items are handed out to local families in need. Hundreds of households are helped through the Food Shelf each month, so these donations create a real difference and impact in our local community to our neighbors in need.
  • Diapers Size 4, 5, 6
  • Diaper Wipes

In 2024, it was a record year, with 18,425 wipes and 10,287 diapers collected. We are grateful to a parishioner who generously matched donations. Thank you for helping babies and their moms.

Giving Tree
Our Giving Tree is an opportunity to help our less fortunate neighbors during the Christmas Season in the Gathering Space. Please take a tag (or two!) and return gifts and items with the tag attached.

You will find tags with ideas for Hayden Grove Senior Living and Martin Luther Manor Residents. These gifts are capped at $20-25. Please wrap these gifts and leave them next to the tree in the bin provided.
  • Disabled American Veterans helps veterans in a variety of ways, and our donations will be going towards the group at the VA Medical Center.
  • Kennedy Community Alliance helps some of our local Kennedy High School students and their families with a pantry at the school where they can get personal and hygiene products.
  • St. Vincent de Paul provides food and housing assistance to our neighbors in need.
Items for these ministries should be unwrapped. Financial gifts to St. Vincent de Paul should be made out to St. Vincent de Paul directly and placed in the envelopes provided. Place donation envelopes in the collection or the locked donation boxes near Doors 5 and 2.

Shoe Box Mission Project
Our students and families share the love of Christ Jesus through the Appalachia Kentucky Papal Footprints Mission Project. Our community gives items such as toys, books, and games packed into shoe boxes and given as Christmas gifts to families living in poverty in Appalachia, Kentucky.

Through the generosity of many, we sent 77 beautifully wrapped shoe boxes and packed 20 large bulk boxes of blankets, coats, backpacks, and other miscellaneous gifts together with donations from St. Paul and Minneapolis Archdiocese, filled a truck to Appalachia, Kentucky, in early November 2023.
