The People of God, sharing in Christ’s priestly, prophetic, and royal office, are called to exercise the mission given by God to the Church.
Just as the people of Israel were “no people” until God had called them out of, so the diverse gathering of believers in Christ is constituted a community. The bond which unites this community is none other than the bond of charity that unites us to the indwelling Trinity. Each Christian is in an important sense formed in faith by this local community, by service to it and, with it, by service to others in the name of Christ.
