Sacramental Policy
Last updated February 19, 2006 - 9:57pm. Sacrament Preparation | SacramentsWe are continuing our policy of inviting children in the second grade to prepare to receive First Reconciliation in the fall/winter and then to prepare to receive First Communion in the spring. If your child has not yet received First Reconciliation, he/she may prepare to receive the sacrament with the second, third and fourth graders who will be receiving the sacrament in January.
The process for the child to receive First Reconciliation or First Communion begins with parents/guardians attending a short, informative meeting where they receive information about the sacrament and home-study materials which are to be completed by the children preparing to receive the sacrament. The completed materials are brought to learning stations which occur about 8 weeks after the parent meeting date. It is important that all parents of children who are eligible to receive sacraments attend the parent meeting and set aside time for learning stations. The celebration date takes place within a couple of weeks of learning stations.
